The Indianapolis Colts and 26 year old star quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. came to terms on a long term deal. Sources close to the team said the deal is for 5 years 126 million dollars with a reported 48.7 million dollar signing bonus. The deal will all but guarantee that Haskins will be in Indy for the all important high stakes season.
Haskins, who is playing this season under the 34.8 million dollar franchise tag has always maintained that this is was the only place he wanted be. “I knew that they wanted me here and I wanted to be here so it was only a matter of time before a deal got done, and I’m happy we did it.” It was no secret that the colts brass thought highly of the talented signal caller and that was evident when they traded away a 2024 1st draft pick to acquire him from Washington. Colts owner Andrew Luck-Less told reporters at his weekly press conference “Dwayne is our guy and we showed him as much with a deal that worked for both player and team, now that that’s behind us we can focus on the business of winning football games.”
Reports of this deal came on the heels of the teams first win of the season at home versus division foe Tennessee 33-21 and Haskins played his best game as a Colt going 17-25 210 yards with 3 touchdowns and ZERO interceptions to improve their record to 1-5 on the season.
