All State Defensive Back, State Champion, Heisman Trophy Winner to SB Champion?

All State Defensive Back, State Champion, Heisman Trophy Winner to SB Champion?

The 2021 Heisman Trophy Winner, Lamichael Hayden, who played Free Safety at the University of South Carolina fell to pick 15 in a pipe dream scenario. Hayden was selected by the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers!

Hayden anticipated being drafted in the top 7 selections but waited much longer than he thought. He saw plenty of teams who needed a S pass on him after having a great combine and amazing interviews.

Hayden had a historic season at South Carolina in which he had 107 total tackles, 12 interceptions, 6 forced fumbles and scored 4 touchdowns! With the season he had, the voters deemed him the easy selection to win the Heisman over sought after QB Charlie Olsen and RB Javier Sydney.

Prior to attending South Carolina, Hayden was an all state DB and state champion at his local high school in South Carolina, Dutch Fork. Hayden chose to stay close to home to be near his family and friends. Hayden had offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Miami, Clemson and USC.

So what’s next in store for Hayden? Hayden comes to a Super Bowl Champion locker room with expectations to repeat as champions! Hayden joins a DB room which currently has Darnell Savage, Adrian Amos, Jaire Alexander, Kevin King and Josh Jones. Hayden told defensive coordinator Mike Pettine that he is going to grind every day and soak in all the information he can from these all pro players. Pettine told the media that expects Hayden to be a top S in the league and form one of the greatest S tandems with Savage, that the league has ever seen.

Hayden’s rookie season goals include defensive rookie of the year and helping the Packers repeat as champions! Hayden believes he is the best defensive player that came out in the draft and will show the 13 teams who passed on him why they made a mistake.

Hayden will be wearing #24 for the Packers. Hayden’s two favorite DB’s in the NFL growing up were Charles Woodson and Champ Bailey. Current backup Packers S Kentrell Brice gave Hayden the number after he requested it. Hayden agreed to donate 100k to the charity of Brice’s choice for giving him the number.

The Packers continue to strike gold with their draft picks and the league better expect Lamichael Hayden to be an instant impact player!
